Feeding frontline healthcare workers with Feed the Front Line NOLA

By: Fidelity Bank

Fidelity Bank has been actively seeking opportunities to serve individuals and industries most in need during the COVID-19 pandemic. We are proud to champion our core value of Community every day, and even more during this time. We have been lucky enough to partner with several local organizations, businesses and nonprofits to find new ways to be Here for Good.

Enter the Krewe of Red Beans: This 501(c)3 nonprofit (and yes, Mardi Gras krewe) presented the perfect opportunity to partner up on their project, Feed the Front Line NOLA. Feed the Front Line NOLA seeks to feed local healthcare workers at area hospitals with a start-to-finish approach. They have not only identified hospitals with needs, but have also established partnerships with 40 locally owned restaurants throughout the city to prepare, cook, and box meals. They have taken it a step further, training 30 local musicians in safe handling food practices to take care of pick up and deliveries of all meals to the hospitals.

What stuck out to us about their initiative was their comprehensive approach and ability to truly cover all areas at all levels of need. Businesses and/or individuals can pledge as little as $5 to “Feed a Hero a Snack,” or Feed a Hero dinner for $20. Groups and businesses can also choose to scale up and feed all staff at one local hospital breakfast, or support all the NOLA hospitals with meals for a month. In other words, there are many levels and ways to show support to our local front line.
