Newly formed POWER Woman of the Year award received more than 50 nominations for 26 women leaders from the New Orleans area

(New Orleans) – Fidelity Bank named Jolie Dugas Bernard as its POWER Woman of the Year at its inaugural awards ceremony. Dugas Bernard was selected from more than 50 nominations for 26 women leaders from throughout New Orleans. The newly formed award is part of Fidelity’s “Potential of Women Entrepreneurs Realized” (POWER) program. In its inaugural year, the awards ceremony was held at Treme Market Branch with over 150 people in attendance.

Dugas Bernard, owner and founder of The Bernard Group, LLC, was selected as this year’s winner after receiving multiple nominations from fellow members in the community. Some of the words used in nominations about Dugas Bernard included “champion,” “goal-oriented,” “solutions-driven,” “natural leader,” “passionate,” and “connector.” She aligns herself with causes and non-profit organizations that are anchored in the spirit and mission of helping those that do not have traditional access to resources.

Dugas Bernard also advocates for Fidelity Bank’s POWER program any time she engages in the space of women business owners. She also serves as the PRSA New Orleans Chapter Treasurer of the Board of Directors and is a member of the New Orleans Regional Black Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors. Additionally, she currently leads the New Orleans Regional Black Chamber of Commerce Ambassador Program.

In addition to her executive leadership role in several non-profits, she is the founder of four non-profit organizations of her own.

Of the 2023 nominations, Fidelity Bank officials noted that more than half of the nominees were women of color and included professions ranging from consultants, accountants, non-profit executive directors, educators and more.
