STOP AND THINK: Text Message Scams

Stop and Think: Protecting Yourself During Fraud Awareness Month

Spotlight: Text Message Scams

As part of our Fraud Awareness Month series, we want to highlight an increasingly common scam targeting bank customers through text messages. Recently, there have been reports of customers receiving fraudulent texts that look like security alerts. These messages often mention a “login attempt” and ask you to reply or click a link to verify your account.

Here’s what you need to know:

What the Scam Looks Like

  • A text message claiming to be from “Fidelity Bank” about a login attempt.
  • A request to reply “Y” or “N” or to click a link.
  • A follow-up phone call from someone impersonating a Fidelity Bank employee, asking for your Online Banking credentials.

These messages may look convincing, but they are not from Fidelity Bank.

How to Protect Yourself

  • Fidelity Bank will never call, text, or email you to request your username, password, or verification codes.
  • If you receive a suspicious message:
    • Do not reply.
    • Do not click on links.
    • Do not share your Online Banking credentials.
  • Instead, contact us directly at [bank phone number] or visit your local branch if you’re unsure.

Remember: STOP AND THINK

Before responding to any unexpected text, call, or email:

  1. Pause – Scammers often use urgency to trick you.
  2. Verify – Use a trusted phone number or website to confirm.
  3. Protect – Never share your login credentials with anyone.

Fidelity Bank is committed to keeping your accounts safe. If you believe you may have responded to a scam text or shared your information, please contact us immediately at (800) 220-2497.

Together, we can stop fraud in its tracks.
